About Us

Competitive prices, quality and performance; these attributes have characterized Finishing Touch’s philosophy since its founding in 1985 when Rod Nicholas set up the company’s first showroom in Mill Creek, Washington. Since that time, commitment to excellence and performance has lead to the growth of the company to include appearing on ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, working with the Seattle Street of Dreams and winning 1st Place for Showroom Retail Display in Floor Focus Magazine.

Rod Nicholas began as a carpet installer in the Washington D.C. area. He then moved to the Seattle area where he worked his way up to become Vice President for a Lynnwood floor covering company.  He and his wife Susan had six beautiful children. They were semi-retired in Florida before his untimely death on July 31, 2001.  He cared greatly for his family and the people he worked with; a legacy that Susan has carried out since her return in 2004 as president of Finishing Touch, Inc.

"Finishing Touch has become my passion after 28 years in the floor covering business.  When Rod and I moved to Florida during my last pregnancy, we were still actively involved, but the stock holders that were left in charge didn't reflect the level of professionalism that we now withhold.  Being back among the team, with a few individuals having been here for over 20 years, a real sense of family has developed.  We collectively apply our experience and passion for this industry as a valuable resource to the Greater Seattle community."

Susan Nicholas, President
"My favorite part of coming to work everyday is knowing that this company is something that my dad built all on a dream to support his family. Finishing Touch is his legacy and makes it so that I can speak of him often. I am forever grateful for his hard work and have him in my heart with me every step of the way. I also am very grateful for my mom's blood, sweat, and tears she has put into this company. Woriking side by side with her is an honor."
